ESPN reviewers through the joint efforts of several authors, they created an entertaining note on how boxing could resolve conflicts between TV channels and promoters. That is, how to solve the problem when the promoter has a top fighter, whom he is not able to provide with top opposition.
The authors imagined that in boxing (like, for example, in the NHL) there is a practice of exchanging fighters between competing teams (promoters).
It turned out, of course, at times too far-fetched (especially in terms of market value and geography), but still entertaining.
Exchange objects: Gervonta Davis in place of Virgil Ortiz and Joseph Diaz.
From where and where: PBC and Golden Boy Promotions.
Purpose of exchange: Goal #1 – Davis vs Ryan Garcia (61.2 kg). Secondary goals are to provide opposition to Ortiz (66.7 kg / Errol Spence, Yordenis Ugas, maybe even Terence Crawford) and Diaz (59 kg / Frank Martin, Chris Colbert, maybe even a rematch with Gary Russell Jr.).
Note WMMAA: the author did not take into account that Diaz (61.2 kg) changed the division, as he simply stopped squeezing into it.
Exchange objects: Ryan Garcia instead of Kishon Davis, Richard Torrez, Delante Johnson.
From where and where: Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank.
Purpose of exchange: Goal No. 1 is to provide opposition to Garcia (63.5 kg / Teofimo Lopez, Josh Taylor, Jose Ramirez, Jose Cepeda, maybe even Devin Haney). In return, Oscar De La Hoya’s company will receive three Olympian prospects.
Note WMMAA: what the GBP will do with the trio of prospects (especially with heavyweight Torrez) the author did not say. But there is no one cooler than Top Rank in the promotion of young fighters.
Exchange objects: Deontay Wilder instead of Conor Benn.
From where and where: RVS and Matchroom Boxing.
Purpose of exchange: Benn (66.7kg) will have access to the top welterweight names that are predominantly in America, while Wilder (over 90.7kg) will have access to heavyweights from Britain. Mentioned for Benn were Keith Thurman, Jesse Vargas, Danny Garcia, Yordenis Ugas, Eimantas Stanyonis, and world champions Spence and Crawford. For Wilder: Alexander Usyk, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Dillian Whyte.
Note WMMAA: Usyk and Fury are past. It’s better to add a real contender Derek Chisora.
Exchange objects: David Benavidez replaces Murodjon Akhmadaliev and Dillian Whyte.
From where and where: RVS and Matchroom Boxing.
Purpose of exchange: Goal #1 is to make Benavidez (76.2 kg) fight Canelo Alvarez. Also among the possible opponents were mentioned Dmitry Bivol, Joshua Buatsi and Callum Smith (all in 79.4 kg). For Akhmadaliev (55.3 kg), the transition would mean a fight for the title of absolute champion with Stephen Fulton, as well as a rematch with Daniel Roman. And even division-higher options are Leo Santa Cruz and Gary Russell Jr. For White (over 90.7 kg), the author suggests Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr.
Note WMMAA: if Canelo wants to fight Benavidez, he will do it in the show from RVSand if there is no desire, then what is the whole tsimes?
Exchange objects: Naoya Inoue instead of Dmitry Bivol and Joe Cordina.
From where and where: Top Rank and Matchroom Boxing.
Purpose of exchange: Make Inoue (up to 52.2 kg) fights with Roman Gonzalez, Juan Francisco Estrada, Julio Cesar Martinez and possibly Jesse Rodriguez. Make Bivola (79.4 kg) fight for the title of absolute division champion with Artur Beterbiev. Make Cordina (59 kg) unification fight with division leader Shakur Stevenson.
Note WMMAA: Inoue last fought at 52.2kg in 2017…
Exchange objects: Lawrence Okoli replaces Emanuel Navarrete and Michael Conlan.
From where and where: Matchroom Boxing and Top Rank | queensberry promotions.
Purpose of exchange: Make Okoli (over 90.7 kg) fights with Tyson Fury, Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois. Navarrete (57.2 kg) will get the opportunity to unify with Josh Warrington and/or Lee Wood. Conlan, apparently, for even stronger competition.
Note WMMAA: even if (when) Okoli moves to heavyweight, he will definitely not immediately go to the above fighters.
Exchange objects: David Avanesyan replaces Joshua Buatsi.
From where and where: queensberry promotions and Matchroom Boxing.
Purpose of exchange: Goal number 1 is to make a fight between Buatsi (79.4 kg) and Anthony Yarde, and Avanesyanu (66.7 kg) – with Conor Benn.
Note WMMAA: no longer relevant as Yard has Beterbiev and Benn has Chris Eubank Jr.
The other day it became known that Eubank and Benn almost agreed on a fight: there is a date and place. A little later, both were involved in the correspondence between Rahman and Paul: the YouTuber was challenged by the son of another legend.
