On the night of May 21-22, a boxing evening will be held in Glendale (USA), the main event of which will be the fight between two-time world champion in super middleweight (up to 76.2 kg) American David Benavidez (25-0, 22 KOs) and ex-champion at category below Canadian David Lemieux (43-4, 36 KOs).
On the eve of the boxers, who will challenge the vacant title of the “interim” WBC world champion in 76.2 kg, took part in the final press conference.
“I definitely want to get in the ring and follow the game plan,” says Benavidez. – And I don’t care when the knockout will be: in the first, second, fifth or twelfth round. When it will be, then it will be. I represent everything I do in the ring. Already yesterday I made weight and now everything is wonderful. No stress now after four months of hard work. Now I’m just happy to go out there, fight for the title and give the fans a great fight.”
“If he wants a war, he will get it,” Lemieux promises. “I am strong and absolutely confident in my abilities. I know that he is a very strong fighter, but we have a plan on how to counter him. We don’t worry, we just do what we have to do to be on top. He’s a great fighter, you can’t take that away from him, but he’s never fought David Lemieux and will see what that means on Saturday. Lemieux said earlier that Bivol is too big for Canelo Alvarez.
