If Golovkin retires after Canelo fight: Mendoza on the fate of his belt

WBA Super / IBF middleweight champion veteran from Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) in September will try to take away all the super middleweight division belts from Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs). It is possible that after that he will end his sports career.

The WBA is already prepared for this outcome. Earlier, the organization ordered Golovkin to fight the holder of the WBA World belt in the same weight, Cuban veteran Erislandy Lara (29-3-3, 17 KOs).

If the Kazakhstani refuses the belt, then Lara will not automatically get it, Mendoza claims. It will be played between the Cuban and the highest available WBA rated fighter – Briton Chris Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs) and/or Mexican Jaime Munguia (40-0, 32 KOs).

In the meantime, Eubank and Benn have almost agreed on a fight: there is a date and place, and Munguia is waiting for a big fight at the end of the year.
