Ian Machado Garry names condition of fight with Michael Page

No. 7 ranked UFC welterweight division, Ian Machado Garry, commented on the statement of British Michael Page, who after a successful debut in the UFC reported a desire to fight him.

“No, his number in the rankings is not higher than mine,” the undefeated Irishman told Sky Sports. “I want to be the best in the world and as long as your number is not higher than mine, I’m not interested. Until he somehow beats me in the division and his number is higher than mine, I have no interest.”

Michael Page, 36, had his first fight under the world’s strongest league banner two weeks ago, winning a three-round unanimous decision over Kevin Holland at UFC 299 in Miami to move to thirteenth in the UFC welterweight rankings.

Ian Machado Garry, 26, picked up his seventh UFC victory in February with a split decision win over Jeff Neal at UFC 298 in Anaheim.
