Ian Machado Garry compared himself to Khabib Nurmagomedov

Irish prospect Ian Machado Garry, who failed to finish American Neil Magny at UFC 292 in Boston, believes he put on a perfect performance, as evidenced by the 30-24 score in his favor on one of the judges’ scorecards.

“Do you know when the last time there was a 30-24 score?” the welterweight said in an interview with Damon Martin. “It’s been a long time – it’s been seven years since we’ve seen a 30-24 score, and that was in Khabib’s fight against Edson Barboza. So the last person to win a fight by a score of 30-24 was Khabib. That shows the level of dominance we’re talking about.”

“I think it was a dominant, flawless and intelligent performance. I agreed to this fight with ten days notice and gave a smart performance against the guy with the most wins in the division. I showed everyone how good I am. I made my opponent look like he had never fought before.”

Ian Machado Garry, 25, is undefeated and is riding a streak of six wins in the UFC, three of which have come via early knockouts. The Irishman is currently ranked eleventh in the organization’s welterweight division rankings.
