Newly minted “interim” WBO heavyweight champion Joe Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs) will have trouble finding worthy opponents after he spectacularly and ahead of schedule dealt with former New Zealand champion Joseph Parker last weekend .
Joyce’s promoter, Frank Warren, suspects that after such a performance, his ward is unlikely to find many who want to box with Joyce. And the current holder of a full-fledged WBO title, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) is no exception.
“If I were Usyk, would I fight him? Frank asks. – I know that they have a history from amateurs, but they were amateurs. Look at his (Joyce’s) size. I don’t know how Usyk can beat him, to be honest. Of course, he will try to outbox him, but I think that Joe will just wear him out, he’s so big. And he doesn’t back down from you. I think he will give Usyk many, many problems.”
