Herbert Burns: Jorge Masvidal is content with the ‘celebrity lifestyle,’ but doesn’t want Gilbert Burns to be beaten.

Gilbert Burns is hoping to get a UFC fight with Jorge Masvidal next, and even said he’d contractually agree not to shoot a single takedown if it happens. Masvidal responded that he’s open for the matchup, although he specifically declined the no-takedown offer.

Regardless of what, Burns’ brother Herbert Burns (a fellow UFC fighter) isn’t certain it will happen.

” I honestly believe Masvidal does not want to fight,” Burns stated on the Trocacao Franka this week’s episode MMA Fighting Podcast Trocacao ahead of Bill Algeo’s UFC Long Island bout.

“He cannot turn down a fight because he is the champion,” Burns stated. Burns said, “If you are the worst man on earth, then how could you refuse a fight?” You have to be up for it, but I think Masvidal doesn’t want this fight. If they do fight, Gilbert will end him. I don’t see this fight going past the second round. Gilbert ends this fight .”

“Durinho” last fought in April, losing a back-and-forth battle with 170-pound sensation Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273.

Masvidal, on the other hand, hasn’t won in nearly three years and dropped his past three bouts to champion Kamaru Usman and former interim titleholder Colby Covington.

” The quickest way to win [for Gilbert] is to knock him out and then submit him,” Burns stated. “Masvidal has good takedown defense, he’s not bad in anything. Gilbert has good jiu jitsu, striking and decent defensive wrestling. Masvidal, however, is happier with his celebrity life .”

.

“‘Durinho’ can knock him out, no doubt. Masvidal is in a terrible matchup. Masvidal does not have what it takes to win. He couldn’t stop Colby from closing the distance, he couldn’t stop wrestlers from doing their thing. He’s struggled with that his entire career, and ‘Durinho’ imposes those same difficulties with his world-class jiu-jitsu. “Durinho” is superior in every area, and knocks him out of the ring or submits to him. If they fight, it won’t go to a decision. ‘Durinho’ finishes it early.”

Herbert Burns has his sights set on his first fight since he injured his knee in 2021..

Originally booked to face 23-0 newcomer Khusein Askhabov on Long Island, “The Blaze” is now happy to share the cage with a fighter with more experience under the UFC banner.

” I really want to get on the right track,” he stated. “My last fight was a loss and it was the worst performance of my MMA career. I was not in good shape. Although I tried to lose weight and ruined my body, my performance and myself, it didn’t help. This is not an excuse. Daniel Pineda was better than I that night. But, it’s not an excuse. Saturday, vintage “The Blaze” will be on display. It will unleash the beast and give one of the most memorable performances of my career.

The change of opponents only meant “changing the name of the victim,” Burns said, and his plan is to “run through” Algeo.

As for a potential rematch with Pineda to prove he wasn’t at his best in their first meeting at UFC 252, Burns said he and Pineda must get a few good wins first for it to make sense.

“I want more than just a rematch. I want to be ranked and make it the champion,” Burns stated. “If the rematch makes sense, if he gets a good victory, I’ll definitely want the rematch because I’m sure the outcome would be different, but it’s not something I’m obsessed with. My obsession is getting up the ranks and climbing to top in the .”

division.
