Henry Cejudo: “Pavlovic and Aspinall fight not worth an interim title”

Former UFC dual champion Henry Cejudo doesn’t see enough reason to hand the winner of the fight between Sergey Pavlovic and Tom Aspinall the interim UFC heavyweight championship belt.

“They are two promising guys who are in their prime and could potentially challenge Jones or Stipe, the winner of this fight,” “Triple Champion” said in another video posted on his Youtube channel. “It’s an exciting fight, but is it worth the interim title? No, it’s not worth it.”

“I think we’re starting to blur a little bit the very concept of what it means to be a UFC champion. I guess it’s more of a number one contender fight – that’s what it should be called. Or, for that matter, and the UFC wants to be sure to play out the belt, make the interim title a silver title instead of a gold title”

The American also shared his opinion on the upcoming match, in which he bets on the Russian fighter.

“I’m picking the Russian. I think he’s more flexible and he has a lot of power. Tom is good, his footwork can cause problems, but the Russian has something special – they came out of a great technical school, they have a very strong fighter base. For this reason, I’m betting on Sergey. There is a lot of hype around him and he has knockout power. In the heavyweight division, you can’t ignore that kind of power”

Recall that the fight between the Russian and the British will be the second most important event of the tournament UFC 295, which will be held on November 11 in New York. The interim title bout was announced after current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones was injured and pulled out of his fight against Stipe Miocic to headline the numbered event.
