Hearn reveals how Canelo’s surgery is doing

British promoter Eddie Hearn spoke about a conversation with the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Mexican Saul Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) after Canelo underwent surgery on his injured left wrist.

According to Hearn, Alvarez is positive and pleased with how the injury is healing. So it’s very possible that Saul will traditionally perform at the Cinco de Mayo in May.

“Yeah, I talked to him after the surgery,” Eddie said on a podcast with Chriss Mannix. I think he was very happy with how it went. He said he would be able to strike in two months. And although it’s too early to make any predictions, I believe that you will see his return in May. Because if he starts hitting (in training) by the end of December, then he will have no problem getting ready for a fight in May. He’s already training, he’s already in shape.”

“Could this (return) be delayed until September? – continues the functionary. – Maybe. Still, he had a long series of fights. But I think he’s very happy with how things turned out. Knowing Saul, I think he will want to get back in the ring as soon as possible.”

It is possible that the Russian light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol will again become Alvarez’s rival. In any case, this is clearly what Hearn himself wants.
