British top promoter Eddie Hearn is delighted with the performance of his ward, WBC world champion in the second flyweight (up to 52.2 kg) American Jesse Rodriguez (16-0, 11 KOs) in a duel against Thai Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (50- 6-1, 43 KOs) and gives him great prospects.
Recall last night, Rodriguez defended the title for the first time, stopping Srisaket in the 8th round.
Eddie is convinced that the 22-year-old Jesse will already beat anyone in his division and in the two lighter divisions, including the famous Roman Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada.
“This is the youngest champion in boxing, who may already be among the best in pound-for-pound,” says Hearn. – To be honest, I don’t think that in the weight categories from 49 to 52.2 kg there is a fighter who will beat him, including the great ones. Of course, Roman Gonzalez and Juan Estrada are still far away, but let’s be honest: would you now put these guys as favorites against Rodriguez?
Rodriguez himself also made a statement after a spectacular victory over Rungwisai.
