Promoters Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) and Kalle Sauerland (Wasserman Boxing) did not abandon the idea of holding a boxing evening in London (England) on Saturday, in the main event of which a fight between local fighters – middleweight Chris Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs) and welterweight Conor Benn (21-0, 14 KO).
The problem is that earlier underdog Benn was caught on the use of illegal drugs. The parties agreed to make it appear that nothing terrible had happened, but intervened British Boxing Council (BBBC) – They are categorically against the fight.

ESPN, Hearn and Sauerland are looking for ways to get around the organization’s ban. It looks like there is a way out. And this is no know-how: in 2012, promoter Frank Warren (queensberry promotions) bypassed the ban VVVOS by using Boxing Federation of Luxembourg — they gladly sanctioned the fight and issued licenses to brawling British heavyweight brawlers David Haye and Derek Chisora, who had brawled the year before and been punished by British boxing functionaries.
The source believes that Hearn and Sauerland have a fallback option – UK and Ireland Boxing Authority. They previously sanctioned youtuber fights after being rejected VVVOS.
Eubank and Benn is one of the biggest battles of this year in Britain. Despite the fact that both have never been (full) world champions before, their confrontation is of interest to fans, since in the 1990s two unforgettable head-to-head championship confrontations were presented to the audience by the fathers of the fighters – the legendary Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn.
According to media reports, the prize fund of the Eubank vs Benn fight is 3.5 million pounds. The event is planned to be held on the PPV system (broadcast price is 20 pounds). Part of the proceeds will also go to the fighters.
It’s funny that this time Warren is “on the side of truth and justice”: “The Council did everything right.” Favorite Eubank does not consider the fight competitive: “This is a mismatch and a public execution.”
