Haney ridiculed the Davis-Garcia fight: “Drive him away with pissing rags!”

On January 7 in Washington (USA), the WBA World lightweight champion American Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) will fight with the main discovery of 2022 – the owner of the same belt in the lower division Dominican Hector Luis Garcia (16-0, 10 KOs).

Fans and experts assess the upcoming match in different ways. Some believe that this is another mismatch, but many are sure that the opponent can very well upset the favorite.

And here’s what about it
He speaks undisputed lightweight champion American Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs): “Just look at what boxing has become. There are practically no standing fights – only intermediate fights. Damn, how many intermediate fights do you need to finally accept something worthwhile? The same Gervonta … How many passers has he already had in his career? Yes, he fucking has every fight in between.

Haney claims he knows Garcia firsthand: “I sparred with him. I know that he is a goof. I drove him out of the camp with pissing rags, as he simply did not meet the level. When it was? When I was preparing for Joseph Diaz. As far as I remember, I sparred with him two or three times. This guy just couldn’t take it. So I got rid of it and replaced it with someone else. Personally, I don’t rate him very highly.”

It is possible that Haney is lying a little – just to hurt Davis a little. After all, a little later in the same interview, he suddenly begins to praise the Dominican: “I think Gervonta cannot afford to underestimate. After all, this is a worthy opponent. And he’s really hungry. Especially since you all saw what he did to Chris Colbert.”

Garcia in 2022, as a late replacement, effortlessly upset the previously unbeaten top talent Colbert, and then took the belt from Venezuelan Roger Gutierrez.

What do you think, is an upset possible in the Davis-Garcia fight? And here’s an expert’s opinion. At a press conference, Gervonta said he wants to shut everyone up, and Garcia is already staring at Garcia. A little later, Davis changed his mind and began to praise his opponent: “He’s not trash.” In the meantime, Garcia is preparing to attack Gervont: “I can do everything he can, and even better.”
