Haney-Lomachenko: Arum wants to do an all-title fight, but there is a problem

Promoter Bob Arum (Top Rank) dreams of organizing a fight for the title of absolute lightweight champion between the current holder of all belts, American Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) and former division leader Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs).

But there is one problem. Over the weekend, Haney went to Australia and took away all the titles from the local champion George Kambosos Jr. (20-1, 10 KOs), and under the terms of the contract he is obliged to give him an immediate revenge. The loser activated this item immediately at the post-match press conference.

Arum comments: “I think that writing rematch clauses in the contract harms boxing. But I understand why boxers and promoters insist on this – it’s all business. But if we are talking purely about sports, then they are only harmful.”

The thing is that the fight Kambosos vs Haney was not competitive – the judges already gave the Australian everything that could be given and even a little more. Our report on this event – It is a pity that not (c) Lomachenko.

Ryan Garcia believes that the confrontation between Kambosos vs Haney did not turn out very well: “A sluggish fight”, and the legendary Fenech criticized the work of the compatriot’s corner.
