Grigory Ponomarev spoke out about the fall of Oleksandr Usik

Russian heavyweight Grigory Ponomarev, who is recovering from a knee injury in his ACA Grand Prix quarterfinal bout against Mukhumat Vakhaev, showed his opinion on the boxing title match between Alexander Usik and Daniel Dubois, which has been a major topic of contention among fans for several days now.

“I apologize, I couldn’t resist,” Ponomarev wrote in the social network, publishing the following meme.

The boxing match, in which the Ukrainian boxer defended the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles, ended in the ninth round with a knockout victory for Oleksandr Usik, however, in the fifth round he himself was on the canvas, missing a kick to the body, but the referee, instead of opening the account, decided that the blow came below the belt, and gave the champion time to recover.

The British boxer claimed after the fight that the victory had been stolen from him, and his promoter Frank Warren announced that they were already preparing an appeal and would overturn the result of the match.
