Gomez beat Kota, and Kota was the referee: results

Gila River Arena, Glendale, Arizona, USA. In the first middleweight (up to 69.9 kg), Cuban prospect Yoelvis Gomez (6-0, 5 KOs) beat the seasoned Mexican Jorge Luis Cota (30-6, 27 KOs), the “litmus test” of the division.

In the 3rd round, Kota was shocked, but instead of finishing off his opponent, Gomez sent him to the canvas with a wrestling technique. In the last seconds (more precisely, even after the gong), the Mexican hit his best blow – he was confidently held by … the referee.

Gomez managed to lose the advantage. In the “best” Cuban tradition, he took his foot off the gas pedal and frankly played the fool for two rounds in a row. But even these three minutes were given to the Cuban – the fight went the whole distance, the judges counted three times 100-90.

Gomez UD 10.

In the featherweight limit (up to 57.2 kg), unbeaten Luis Nunez (17-0, 12 KOs) from the Dominican Republic and Jonathan Fierro (13-1, 12 KOs) from Mexico met.

Not very well-known fighters rolled a bright 10-round mahach, in which the Dominican ward Andre Rozier was a little better – three times 96-94.

Nunez 10.
