Mexican former super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez believes that his compatriot Canelo Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) had a good third fight against Gennady Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs), which cannot be said about GGG.
Recall that on the night of September 17-18, Alvarez defeated Golovkin by unanimous decision, defending the title of absolute champion of the super middleweight division (up to 76.2 kg).
“I think it was a good fight for Canelo. He tried to put pressure on the opponent all the time, tried to get into a fight, as in the two previous fights, – Gilberto believes. – But Golovkin, as for me, did not perform very well. He was a little scared and didn’t throw many punches. It changed in rounds 8-9, but he still wasn’t the same.”
“In general, I think Canelo boxed well, which can not be said about Golovkin,” Ramirez continued. “In their first and second fights, he threw a lot of punches and everyone thought he won the first fight. Now – no. He said he won. I don’t know why he did it. It was strange. In my opinion, Alvarez won by a wide margin. Since the rematch, Canelo has improved, and Golovkin has not even tried to win. He was trying to survive, that’s all.”
“I don’t think it’s a matter of age (Golovkin). Still, he leads the right way of life and prepared for battle. But he didn’t throw punches to win. I think it’s time for him to think about ending his career, ”added the Mexican.
