Get around Lomachenko and Berinchyk: Fierro beat Cuevas – video

Plaza de Toros, Mexico City, Mexico. In the light weight limit (up to 61.2 kg), the Mexican Angel Fierro (20-1-2, 16 KOs) beat the southpaw from the USA
Jeremy Cuevasa (14-2, 10 KOs) and defended the title of North American champion according to WBO NABO.

The fight started at a high pace. Both hacked to death in infighting. Southpaw Cuevas quickly realized that he was too inferior to the favorite in power and tried to act from a distance and because of the jab. It turned out not bad, but it didn’t work out to keep Fierro there for a long time – he imposed power boxing, invested in blows to the body (and just below the waterline too), turning off Cuevas’s legs from the equation.

By the equator, both almost forgot about the defense (Cuevas still did not try very well to work out with the hull and dives) and began to furiously beat each other. In the last second of the 6th round, Fierro shocked his opponent with an uppercut.

In the 7th three-minute period, the underdog got even more. He could not return blows for blows, he took on Fierro’s sweeping splashes, but refused to fall. The referee saved the brave American – he intervened in time, stopped the fight.
