Star American Gervonta Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) is not the first to start his fight in a waddle, allowing the opponent to have an advantage – here in the last fight with the Dominican Hector Luis Garcia (16-1, 10 KOs) at “Tank” it took some time to really turn on.
As a result, everything ended for Gervonta with another victory – Garcia could not continue after the eighth round. After that, the American explained why he “slowed down” at the beginning.
“In the beginning, I didn’t throw a lot of punches because I was trying to beat him psychologically,” Davis revealed the cunning plan. “I tried to trick him with my hands and eyes and things like that because he is a strong fighter. I had to lure him.”
In the eighth round, Gervonte managed to specifically hook the opponent, and yet he is surprised that he could not continue:
“I was a little surprised that he did not come out (for the 9th round). Somehow I knew that he was shocked, but he is a fighter and just did not want to show it. But I knew I shocked him.”
In turn, Garcia called the reason for stopping the fight with Davis.
