Gennady Golovkin: “Loss to Bivol will bring Canelo back to reality”

Kazakh world middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) claims that he still hasn’t watched the fight of his next opponent Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) against Dmitry Bivol, which took place in May of this year and ended with the defeat of Alvarez.

Recall that the duel – already the third in a row – Canelo and Gennady is scheduled for September 17 in Las Vegas (USA).

“I don’t follow Alvarez and I don’t think about him. He’s not on my radar,” Golovkin said. – I know that many people do not believe me, but I did not watch his fight with Bivol either online or after that. I watched the cut of the best moments and nothing that I saw surprised me. Bivol was Bivol and Canelo was Canelo. It was a good day for Bivol and not a good day for Alvarez.”

At the same time, Gennady is sure that this failure will only make the Mexican stronger.

“You learn from defeat. We are at a level where defeats can only make you stronger,” says GGG. “I think this (defeat) was good for Canelo because it brought him back to reality. He will draw the right conclusions from this fight to become a better boxer.”

Earlier, Golovkin spoke about how he feels at the new weight.
