Fury’s ex-coach warned him about Usyk fight

British coach Ben Davison believes that his former ward Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) cannot afford to “recklessly rush forward” to press and maul small Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) if they will fight in the spring for the absolute heavyweight championship.

“It is not that simple. You can’t think: “Oh, well, he’s small.” He is not small, this Usyk, said the coach in
interview Queensbury Promotions. — And he hits hard enough to shock anyone, so there has to be an element of respect. [от Фьюри]. You can’t run headlong into someone with that skill set. He can’t come out in the 1st round and just run into Usyk.”

Davison believes that Tyson should be active and force Alexander to work harder than he would like; cut him the space of the ring, gradually break and deplete.

“Usyk is very good in the clinch, but Tyson is huge, he is good in the same place. But for this, I’m sure Usyk will be very well prepared. I think he will work out some form of struggle with someone Tyson’s size.

“Size will matter if Tyson can capitalize on that advantage. And for this you need to do the right things to get closer. Personally, I think that if Tyson tries to play long, Usyk will work up and down on him, body, body, head, switch back and forth and make it difficult for Tyson to predict his actions. This could force Tyson to step aside. In this case, it will be difficult for Fury to realize his dimensions. In general, success with this will depend on what tactics he uses, ”Ben said.

The British boxing legend believes that “Fury is much better than Usyk in everything.”
