Fury invited the star ex-footballer to sparring to help prepare for Usyk

Legendary Wayne Rooney was a key player, leader and captain Manchester United and England teamand now coaches a local league club (MLS) in the USA DC United.

Rooney loves boxing and considers compatriot heavyweight Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) to be “the best thing in the sport in recent times. It is unlikely that anyone will ever win. He is an absolute legend. He is spectacular, with incredible technique and even more incredible psyche. To be honest, I think he should be knighted. After all, he was not just not afraid to fight on foreign territory. It was on the road that he won and defended his titles. For me, he is the epitome of boxing.”

Rooney seems to have managed to move Fury.
Responsible champion: “Wayne is a legend. I grew up and watched him play for Manchester and England. So I can’t express in words how touched I am by his speech. I know that he is a dedicated boxing fan. He’s also from a boxing family. If so, I hope we can spar a little in the future. Moreover, I need a sparring partner of a small stature – he is preparing for Alexander Usik. Wayne, if you can hear me! Call me son!”

Just in case, we point out that Rooney’s height is 176 cm.

But Fury immediately refused the knighthood: “It may sound stupid and strange, but I am happy with who I am. I am the national champion. I do not need praise, awards and promotion. I do not need to be reminded of who I am and what I have achieved in boxing. I know that I will never need a knighthood, because I will not be remembered for it.

The other day, manager Egis Klimas named the date and place, said that Usyk-Fury was “almost ready”. But promoter Bob Arum does not confirm this.
