British top promoter Eddie Hearn has no doubt that the reigning WBC heavyweight champion Briton Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs), who announced his retirement in April, will re-enter the ring if it brings him a huge amount of money . And this is guaranteed to happen if a fight for the absolute championship against compatriot Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) is at stake if the latter wins in the upcoming rematch against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs).
If Usyk defeats Joshua again on August 20, there is no guarantee of Fury’s comeback, the functionary believes.
“Any sane person knows that Tyson Fury will only re-enter the ring if he gets a mountain of money,” Hearn says in an interview.
DAZN. – And the fight with Usyk will never generate such an amount as the fight with Joshua. Of course, Anthony needs to do his job, and this is a very difficult task. But if and when he does, Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua will not just be the biggest fight in boxing (to date). It will be the biggest fight in the history of the sport.”
Fury vs Usyk? It’s not that big of an event. Even close. But it’s still a fight for the absolute championship. And you have to ask yourself: what do you want? Eddie suggested. – I think history is important for Fury, he wants to leave a legacy and therefore would like to become the undisputed champion. But if the money isn’t right, he won’t go for it.”
