British promoter Frank Warren (Queensberry Promotions) wants the team of ex-champ Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) represented by Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) and 258 MGT to give him an answer “by the end of this week” – they agree on a draft a contract to fight against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) or there are problems.
Warren has recently exuded optimism about the fight, but as he told SecondsOut yesterday, Fury is running out of patience.
“This is the Tyson show. He is number 1 in the world. His title is on the line. AJ is currently in sixth place. We’re going out of our way – sorry, Tyson is going out of his way to make this happen. Let’s do it,” the promoter said in Hollywood.
Why was Fury silent? What’s up with the Joshua fight? Warren tells
According to him, “there is no reason why the fight should not take place.”
“We have a short window to bung him up. By the end of this week we are waiting for an answer – either yes or no. If not, we move on,” Warren concluded.
If Joshua does not grow together, the representative of China Zhang Zhilei (24-1-1, 19 KOs) wants to fight Fury.
