Promoter Eddie Hearn is wondering if WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) really wants an overall fight with IBF/WBO/WBA champ Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), or only the tereveni breeds, and will never agree to the division of the prize fund in half.
In his opinion, the fight has not yet been announced, as Fury’s promoters are actively looking for a place in the Middle East where they will offer the maximum money for the fight.
“I don’t believe what Fury says. Does he really want to fight Usyk? Will he really win? He’s pretty prudent. Yes Yes. I know that he says strange things, but I think he will think hard about what he is going to do, ”said Eddie
Boxing Social.
As for the prize pool division, Hearn says Fury is “more eye-catching than Usyk”.
Wilder’s coach reveals why he’s crazy about Fury
“But he has one belt, and Usyk has three. So it’s 50/50 if you want the fight to happen. I think Tyson thinks he should get 70/30 or 60/40 and I guess that could get in the way of the fight. Why? Because Usyk, on principle, will not accept less than 50%. And Fury can say ‘no no, I’m much more powerful commercially, I don’t give him 50%, that Usyk, a small middleweight who has never made as much money as me! So I should get 70/30 or 60/40″. And everything, after this, everything just falls apart. This is boxing, and this is what we do every day. It’s pretty exciting, actually,” Hearn added.
In general, says the head of Matchroom, no matter what and no matter what, the sides need to make this superfight bloody from the nose. Yesterday, Fury accepted Usyk’s challenge and started yelling “come here rabbit!” again.
Also yesterday, the co-promoter of the Briton said that the Usyk-Fury fight would take place a little later.
