Francis Ngannou in talks with Bellator

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is in talks with Bellator MMA, including a potential boxing match under the Showtime banner.

The meeting with the Cameroonian, attended by Showtime chief Steven Espinoza, took place this week, according to Bellator president Scott Cocker, and media conglomerate Viacom, which owns both companies, is ready to make a worthy offer to Predator.

“On the subject of signing Francis Ngannou to Bellator, we had a meeting this week that Steven Espinoza was present to talk about having a boxing match on Showtime,” Cocker told a press conference in Dublin. “Our company can offer him what he wants – a double deal in MMA and boxing. I think we’re perfect for each other. Negotiations are ongoing, so we’ll see what happens.”

At the beginning of this year, Francis Ngannou vacated the UFC championship belt, leaving the organization in the status of a free agent, after which such famous boxers as Derek Chisora, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder announced their interest in a fight with the Cameroonian heavyweight.
