Francis Ngannou expresses desire to fight Jon Jones, but is it possible?

Former UFC heavyweight champion from Cameroon, Francis Ngannou (17-3), admits that he would like to fight American Jon Jones (27-1), but sees no way how it could happen.

To remind, the Ngannou-Jones fight was supposed to take place at UFC 285 on the night of March 4-5, but after Francis failed to reach a new contract agreement with the promotion, he left the organization, and Jon faced Cyril Gane for the vacant title, defeating him in the first round and becoming the new heavyweight champion.

Considering that the UFC president had previously categorically ruled out the possibility of Ngannou ever returning to the organization, Francis has come to the conclusion that fans should not hold out hope of seeing him fight Jones.

“It would have been an entertaining fight, and I would have liked to do it,” Ngannou admits, “but unfortunately, we’re not there. The fight didn’t happen and may never happen, because he (Jones) now has a long, very lengthy contract with the UFC. So there are no more options to carry it out.”
