Former UFC title challenger fails doping test

Former interim UFC bantamweight title challenger Ovince St. Preux will serve a six-month suspension after failing a doping test by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

The 40-year-old American received a relatively lenient punishment due to the fact that the banned substances found in his system were contained in a legal sports supplement the fighter was using.

According to a USADA statement, the welterweight’s out-of-competition doping sample taken on June 17 tested positive for androstenedione and testosterone metabolites, and his suspension will last until December 17.

Note that St. Preux found himself in a similar situation in 2019, when a contaminated sports supplement was the cause of his failed doping test.

The UFC veteran had his last fight in February of this year, already losing by knockout to Filipe Lins in the first minute of the fight.
