Finland’s 38-year-old heavyweight Robert Helenius (31-3, 19 KOs) is just now feeling ready for big things. All because of a long-standing serious injury, from which, according to him, he fully recovered recently.
Recall that on the night of October 15-16, Robert will hold a WBC Candidates fight against former US world champion Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs).

“I feel incredibly lucky,” Helenius shared. – I have been in this sport for a long time, in 2010-11. knocked out Lamon Brewster, Samuel Peter, Sergey Lyakhovich and other such guys. After that, I had an injury, I dropped out of the game for a long time. And now, for the first time, I really feel like I’m back in business.”
Robert understands why many write him off:
“I think people have forgotten (what I am capable of). Moreover, after the return I also had bad fights, so I don’t blame them for the fact that they stopped believing in me. I understand that I myself did not act in the best way after returning. In the end, it took me seven or even eight years to bounce back after a major operation on an injured shoulder.”
