The former world champion in two categories, Briton Amir Khan, who completed his career, said that Floyd Mayweather Jr. suggested that he postpone his boxing retirement and fight in Dubai (UAE).
However, Khan, who had repeatedly urged Floyd to enter the ring in previous years, remained adamant and refused.
“Floyd told me, ‘Look, we have to do this (fight)’.” To which I replied: “Bro, tomorrow I will announce my retirement.” But he continued: “No, I don’t think you should do this,” Amir recounts. “However, when I say I’m leaving, I’m really leaving. I’m not going to change my mind just because someone else like Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao suddenly decided to fight me after years of leaving me on the sidelines on the bench. No, I will pursue my own interests and do what is best for me.”
Recall that Mayweather was supposed to hold an exhibition fight against Don Moore in Dubai on May 14, but due to the death of the UAE President, the event was postponed indefinitely.
