Fighter Shtyrkov: “Fedor Emelianenko can still compete with the tops”

Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Ivan Shtyrkov commented on the victory of Fedor Emelianenko over Timothy Johnson from the USA at the Bellator 269 tournament in Moscow.

“You can say that the opponent is not top, but in any case, such a dominant victory leaves no chance to think what would happen next, – said the fighter to Gazeta.Ru. – It doesn’t matter if you’re top or not: when you get destroyed like that, it doesn’t matter what level you are.

It makes no sense to argue whether Fedor was lucky or not. Many were surprised before the fight that Fedor chose Johnson as his opponents – he could find someone easier, smaller in size. But he did a great job, he surprised me.

The hand speed that always distinguished Fedor in the heavyweights returned to him. He never lost his composure, he worked out the duel very well. After such fights, it seems that everything is still ahead. What a contrast: he defeated a good enough fighter so easily that one thinks that he could compete with the tops a little more.

Recall that on October 23, Emelianenko knocked out American fighter Timothy Johnson at the Bellator 269 tournament in Moscow. In total, he spent 47 fights, of which 16 ended in a knockout of an opponent.
