On the night of September 4-5, in Los Angeles (USA), a duel took place between Mexican Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 KOs) and Cuban Luis Ortiz (33-3, 28 KOs) for the status of a contender for the title of world champion in WBC heavyweight version (over 101.6 kg).
The result of a competitive 12-round confrontation was the victory of Ruiz on points by unanimous decision with a score of 113-112 and 114-111 (twice). An important point – during the fight, Ortiz was knocked down three times: twice in the second and again in the seventh round.
