Fight Bivol – Ramirez: “Bandera” puts on the underdog

Top super-middleweight American David “Bandera roja” Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) believes that Mexican Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs) upsets WBA Super champion Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) – a Russian who is forced perform under the flag of Kyrgyzstan. This fight will take place in early November in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

Benavidez
expects the most competitive confrontation: “I’m a little more inclined in favor of Ramirez, because he is my sidekick. I just want him to win. And I also know him well. But this will be very difficult to do. This is a really tough fight. Although Ramirez is left-handed, he has excellent right hand shots. I sparred with Bivol and I know he doesn’t like body shots. And Gilberto is very good at it.”

Benavidez suggests that “it will be up to who among them wants to win more and who among them is braver. Ramirez will have to press hard, cut off the corners of the ring for Bivol, because he moves very well. Everyone was able to see this in the fight with Canelo Alvarez. I also plan to move up to light heavyweight soon and face both. I know them personally. I have nothing against them. But this is boxing. And my goal is to be #1. The problem is that in the new weight everything seems to have to be done from the very beginning. And another problem is that all these fighters are not in RVS Al Haymon, and streaming DAZN. This means that I may have to go to them. Nothing to do about. It’s politics…”

The other day, the promoter announced Canelo’s immediate goals – there is not only a rematch with Bivol. And the champion himself prefers a fight with Beterbiev, and his manager is afraid of a rematch with Alvarez. Earlier it was officially reported that Bivol and Ramirez will be supported by the winner of the 2020 Olympic Games, the ex-champion and the son of a legend.
