Fight Alvarez – Golovkin 3: forecast and opinion of Mikey Garcia

Conqueror of four weight divisions and future member International Boxing Hall of Fame Mikey Garcia believes that Mexican superstar Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) will beat the antagonist from Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) in the third full-time fight – the fight will take place on September 17 in Las Vegas ( USA).

The previous two bouts between the fighters took place in the middle weight limit. This time they will fight for the title of absolute champion in 76.2 kg. For Golovkin, the upcoming fight is his debut in the new weight.

Garcia
surethat this will not be the key moment of the fight: “I think this is a good fight. But I bet on Canelo. They know each other well, as they have already crossed paths twice in the ring. For this reason, the weight category will not be a decisive factor. Moreover, according to anthropometry, Canelo is a small fighter at all, he began his career in much smaller weight categories. It certainly won’t make a difference.”

According to Garcia, another factor will decide everything: “Canelo has the advantage, as he approaches the fight at the optimal moment of his career. But Golovkin will also try to win, will do everything in his power. I think Canelo will win.”

Garcia suggests that “Canelo will then go for a rematch with (light heavyweight champion) Dimitri Bivol even if he loses to mandatory challenger Gilberto Ramirez. Here you will see. It’s like a thorn in his side. And he wants to take her out. And the only way to do that is to win a rematch.”

Mikey is not happy that Canelo would not like to box against his compatriots: “This is boxing. Compatriot or not… What’s the difference? It doesn’t work that way here. It all depends on the circumstances. Sometimes you just have to take the fight, that’s all.”

The other day Golovkin said that this time “it will come to a knockout”, and Ramirez praised Bivol’s footwork and criticized Canelo a little.
