RCC Boxing Academy, Yekaterinburg, Russia. Former contender for the championship belt, Russian lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) Isa Chaniev (15-4-1, 7 KOs) failed to close the defeat of Ukrainian Denis Berinchik in a duel with compatriot-gatekeeper Vyacheslav Gusev (25-8-1, 8 KO) – brought the fight to a draw.
The underdog started the fight aggressively and by about the 4th round he seized the initiative. Chaniev was too passive at times, practically did not respond with blows to blows, but later he found his boxing. Nevertheless, Vorobyov still took the ending – he shook him with a blow to the body.
The judges decided that a draw verdict would look the most logical in this fight, and the fighters immediately agreed on a rematch. Chaniev complained about problematic training. He says he trained without a coach.
