The 36-year-old ex-world heavyweight champion (up to 90.7 kg) Cuban Yuniel Dorticos (25-2, 23 KOs) is set to restart his career and re-engage in the fight for a leading position in the division.
To this end, Dorticos returned to work with renowned compatriot coach Pedro Diaz.
“I am proud to work with Pedro again,” says the boxer. “We have worked together before and now we are focused again on getting back to the top of the championship to make history.”
Since losing the IBF title in September 2020 with a points loss (MD 12) to Mairis Briedis in the Super Series 2 final, Dorticos has made just one appearance, scoring midfielder Jesse Brown in two rounds last November.
“Everyone knows that Dorticos is a serious fighter,” says Diaz. – Many coaches worked with him, and each brought something of his own. Yes, we have worked with him before. If everything goes the way his team plans, we’ll see him in the ring soon.”
Recall that Yuniel also suffered his first defeat in his career in the Super Series, only in the first season, having suffered an early defeat in the 12th round of the unification fight against Murat Gassiev.
