Eubank to fight Golovkin in 2023

British middleweight Chris Eubank Jr. (32-2, 23 KOs) still wants to enter the ring against Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs), the reigning WBA Super and IBF world division champion.

Recall that Chris and Gennady were close to fighting back in 2016, but failed to agree. Over the years, the Briton’s desire to fight has not diminished.

“The fight against Golovkin is the fight I want,” Eubank says. – My fight against Conor Benn is also a big event, which should take place sooner or later. But for me personally, the fight with Golovkin is more important. He has the belts that I want.”

On January 21, Eubank is scheduled to fight against compatriot Liam Smith. After that, Chris intends to actively seek a fight with the Kazakhstani.

“In general, I regret only one thing in my career. The fact that our fight then fell through, though not through my fault, recalls the Briton. “I was ready to fight, but it didn’t work out. It is me that the public most wants to see in his rivals. So that’s the plan for 2023: we’re going to fight him after we fight Smith.”

Golovkin lost his third fight to Canelo Alvarez in September, but retained the titles as it happened a category higher.

In November, Golovkin was challenged.
