Eubank may appeal the result of the fight with Smith

Middleweight Chris Eubank Jr. (32-3, 23 KOs) and his team are considering filing an appeal with British boxing regulator BBBofC over what they believe was an elbow from Liam Smith and resulted in an early loss. it
Sky Sports confirmed promoter Kalle Sauerland.

Last Saturday, favorite Eubank was stopped for the first time in his professional career after two knockdowns in the 4th round.

In the ring, immediately after the defeat, Chris treated the opponent’s victory with respect and stated that he would activate the rematch clause in the contract.

But now it seems that Eubank and his team believe that Smith’s elbow led to the first knockdown and, as a result, to the early termination.

“We’re looking into it,” Sauerland said of the appeal.

Prior to the fight, Chris drew attention to the fact that Smith could potentially use an elbow or headbutt to gain an advantage, but promised to win by all means.

Former world champion and finalist of the World Boxing Super Series explained Eubank’s defeat: “I would not accept this fight if I were him.”
