Rising welterweight star from the USA Jaron Ennis (29-0, 27 KOs) was going to challenge the WBA World title in the next fight, meeting with the current belt holder Lithuanian Eimantas Stanyonis. And that, he said, was the plan.
But it turned out differently, and now Ennis will fight for the vacant title of the “interim” IBF world champion on January 7 in a fight against the Ukrainian Karen Chukhadzhyan (21-1, 11 KOs), and Stanyonis (14-0, 9 KOs) will defend against another star Virgil Ortiz (19-0, 19 KOs).
“Actually, we should have fought another opponent,” says Jaron. – Initially, we were scheduled to fight against Stanyonis. I don’t know what happened, but I had to be content with what I have. Although I really wanted to fight Stanyonis.”
“I will go against any opponent and I will prepare in the same way as I would prepare for a title fight. And when it comes down to it, I will do the same as always – be better, sharper, smarter, stronger, come home with a knockout and at the same time I will look cool, ”Ennis predicted.
