“Sport-Express” traditionally determined the “Reader of the Year”. They became Edgard Zapashny, a famous trainer, a big fan of boxing and MMA, a friend of Fedor Emelianenko. In an interview with SE, Zapashny told under what circumstances the Last Emperor gave him his gloves.
– Once we did the first big interview in Fedor’s life. Understand that it doesn’t open right away. And not to everyone.
– That’s for sure!
– When did you feel that Fedor “let you in”?
– The first and most touching moment – in St. Petersburg. I looked into the locker room the night he announced his retirement. We stood together with Sasha Emelianenko. I approached Fyodor from the side and said quietly: “Give me gloves.” But Sasha did not appreciate it!
– In what form?
– He said to Fedor: “Don’t do this!”
– Why?
I understood their value. But Fyodor silently took it off and handed it to me. The whole minute, while unwinding, Sasha tried to stop him! He even threw out the phrase: “I’ll sell them to you later. You will understand what you are giving away. These are your last gloves…” Fedor was adamant!
– Amazing story.
– Here I realized: I probably occupy some place in Fedor’s life. Didn’t listen to my brother. Gave away such a valuable thing.
