British promoter Eddie Hearn, in an interview with DAZN, listed all possible options for the next fight for the Russian world champion WBA Super light heavyweight (up to 79.4 kg) Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs).
Recall that on May 8, Bivol defeated the star Mexican Canelo Alvarez on points, who had the right to an immediate rematch. However, Alvarez decided to have a third fight with Gennady Golovkin, so the second half of this year is not busy for Dmitry yet.
“We sat down with Dmitry Bivol and his team and I said: “Look, you will defend your championship around the same time (as Canelo), in September, and after that you will have a rematch with Alvarez in May (2023) ),” Hearn said. – In addition, last weekend Joshua Buatsi won (in the WBA eliminator), and we are also interested in a duel with him. There is also Callum Smith, whose interests we also represent. All in all, we have enough options for Bivol’s voluntary defenses.”

At the same time, the functionary did not rule out that Dmitry could turn towards the fight for the title of absolute division champion against the winner of the upcoming June 18 fight between Artur Beterbiev and Joe Smith Jr.:
“It’s possible. Bivol will fight around September-October, and Beterbiev and Smith, as we know, will meet in June. So Dmitry, together with us, may well look towards the fight for the absolute championship in the second half of the year.
Still, Hearn suggests that a rematch with Alvarez is more appealing to Bivol:
“He wants to be the undisputed champion, but at the same time he wants a rematch (with Alvarez) because it will make him a hell of a lot of money. Again, this is one of the biggest fights in boxing. We will discuss everything with his team, but Bivol is in a great position.”
Meanwhile, Alvarez revealed that he would change in the rematch with Bivol.
