“I’m keeping the weight at a minimum just in case something happens,” MMAJunkie quoted the American as saying. “I don’t have any concrete plans, but if they call me and give me an interesting name that makes sense, like Gaethje, then I’ll do it.”
“I made my debut for the organization at UFC 125 in January 2011, and I definitely won’t be at UFC 400. I’m 34 years old, so getting on the card for UFC 300 would be great, but if I get offered an exciting fight, I could come back sooner than that
“Yeah, I would definitely take a third fight with Justin Gaethje and UFC 300 would be a great option for that, but we’ll see how things play out. If I was in Justin’s shoes and I was guaranteed a title fight, maybe I wouldn’t want to take the risk. We’ll see what happens, but I’m definitely open to that fight.”
In April 2018, Dustin Porier finished Justin Gaethje by technical knockout in the fourth round, and this July, “Highlight” took a convincing rematch from “The Diamond” by knocking him out in the second round.
According to UFC chief, Dana White, a title fight between Makhachev and Oliveira could take place in the summer, meaning that Gaethje will have to wait at least a year for his chance.
