Dustin Poirier is ready to insure the fight between Makhachev and Volkanovski

The second number of the UFC lightweight division, Dustin Poirier, spoke about his future plans, and also shared his opinion about the upcoming super fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski.

“Of course I want to be world champion, but if they don’t let me fight for the title next and they offer me a big interesting fight that I’m excited about, I will do it,” Diamond said in an interview with BroBible. “I don’t know which direction it will go, but I hope when they give me names it will be interesting. Fights with Dariush and Oliveira don’t interest me. Personally, I would like to check Islam in the stand, find out what kind of boxing he has, but we’ll see how it goes.

“I think Wolf is too small for light weight. He beat the best featherweights, beat Max Holloway a few times, but he is not big enough to face Islam Makhachev, who is a very powerful lightweight, so I am leaning towards Islam winning. By the way, I would not mind insuring their fight, but I have not received such an offer.

Recall that the lightweight superfight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski on February 11 will head the UFC 284 tournament in Perth, Australia.
