Oscar De La HoyaGolden Boy Promotions) to his caustic remarks – the Golden Boy claims that it was a priori a stupid idea to put up a super middleweight from Mexico Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) against Russian light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) – lost unanimously the decision of the judges.

Hearn amused by De La Hoya’s comments: “It’s a little naive of De La Hoya to think that Canelo will allow me to make decisions about the opposition for him. This is his career and only he decides who to box with. I know Oscar talks a lot. But the question is, is there anything useful in what he says? I think only one. They confirm that drugs are evil. That’s all”.

“Oscar was an incredible boxer,” says Hearn. He definitely knows more about boxing. than I know. But it’s definitely not for me to decide for Canelo who he should box with. Opponents are chosen by Canelo himself and his coach Eddie Reynoso. And it was Canelo who was the favorite in the fight with Bivol, but lost. This is boxing. It happens. Or what do you offer instead? So that the champion does not accept difficult challenges? I think we have to give Canelo credit for constantly stepping out of his comfort zone in search of new challenges.”

Hearn previously promised to reveal the name of Canelo Alvarez’s September opponent next week. According to him, the duel with Bivol was a “huge success” – he voiced in numbers PPV.
