“With his style, there are things that need to be looked at and I think that’s a mistake that Adesanya made,” the South African fighter said in response to questions from reporters. “He didn’t pay attention to those things – he just saw a guy who is not at his level. He came out and wasn’t ready to face the opponent that Shawn Strickland is, but I haven’t made those mistakes and believe me, I won’t make that mistake. I’m ready.”
Last September, Sean Strickland sensationally took the UFC title from Israel Adesanya, defeating the Nigerian by unanimous decision over five rounds in dominant fashion.
The title fight between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis will be the main event of UFC 297, which takes place Jan. 20 in Toronto, Canada.
