A Brazilian-American standoff is rumored to be in the works for September, according to people close to the situation.
Deiveson Figueredo was scheduled to return to the octagon this weekend at UFC 290 in Las Vegas, but pulled out of his scheduled fight against Manel Cape citing an eye injury. Prior to this, the 35-year-old Brazilian had four fights in a row against Brandon Moreno, in the last confrontation with whom he lost the championship belt for the second time.
38-year-old Dominick Cruz last entered the octagon in August last year, losing by knockout in the fourth round to Marlon Vera. Before losing to the Ecuadorian, the Dominator scored two victories, winning by decisions against Casey Kenny and Pedro Munoz.
