“God puts us through trials, and now I’m going to face another tough test,” the American fighter told Middle Easy. “Carlos and I were supposed to fight on January 20. He pulled out, I don’t know why. It’s probably an injury, but he never said what the injury was. And then I got blood clots. Deep vein thrombosis. So yeah, I’m going to be out for a while.”
“I’m lucky to be alive at the moment – that’s always nice. We identified the problem at an early stage so an embolism was avoided. My leg was hurting and I went for a massage because I thought it was a sprain. And massage is the worst thing you could do in this situation. I was lucky I didn’t die on the massage table.”
According to the fighter, he is now taking blood thinners and will miss at least three months as he is not allowed to do heavy exercises.
Recall that Dominick Reyes will be replaced in the upcoming fight by Alonzo Menifield, who will face Carlos Ulberg on March 30 at UFC on ESPN 54 in Atlantic City.
