Do we have a new Mike Tyson? The legendary champion praises his compatriot

WBC Silver champion Mexican slugger lightweight Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) seems to be the new hot spot.

The fighter abruptly declared himself in December last year in a confrontation with the WBA World champion American Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) – he gave a fight, lost by a competitive decision of the judges. Since then, Cruz has two early victories to his credit – he has timed the ex-world champion Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa and the ex-challenger compatriot Eduardo Ramirez.

Coach Robert Garcia thinks Cruz can beat Haney because “he’s got the Mike Tyson style.”

Also a slugger
praises legendary compatriot Juan Manuel Marquez: “An excellent fighter, very brave. Yes, he is not some top techie, but he has a kick! He didn’t just give a great fight to Davis. Obviously, he is now afraid to agree to revenge. He is even afraid to look at Cruz’s photo! “Pitbull” is not a pure boxer. First of all, he is a fighter. And I would like to see him fight the winner of the fight (for the title of absolute world champion) between Devin Haney and George Kambosos. Yes, I believe that he could become an absolute. And even then it would be possible to have a rematch with Gervonta.

Marquez was asked if Cruz really looks like Mike Tyson: “Well, yes! He is strong, hard-hitting and intimidates opponents with his appearance. He knocks out opponents and the fans love it. They love knockouts. They love spectacular fighters. You yourself saw how he was met in Los Angeles.

It’s funny that Marquez’s coach, the legendary Nacho Beristain, isn’t thrilled with Cruz. Marquez comments: “I heard. He thinks Ryan Garcia is going to beat the shit out of Pitbull. Did you hear how Cruz himself reacted to these words? He said that it was normal, because we Mexicans constantly hate each other. I think that stylistically Garcia would be uncomfortable with just such a fighter as Pitbull. Hard style, which is impossible to predict and disassemble. This is a very uncomfortable and slightly strange style. You don’t know where the next blow will come from. Believe me, this is the style Garcia will not like. It’s not a style at all. This is just a fighter who gives free rein to his fists.

“I think Garcia ran away from Cruz at light welterweight because he knows he can beat him,” Marquez said.

In case you missed it: Last week, Pitbull Cruz scored Lefty Ramirez in a WBC eliminator: there’s a video. And the official fees of the participants of this boxing evening are also named.
