Russian world champion WBA Super light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) does not rule out that for a rematch with the Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) he will go down to the super middleweight division (up to 76.2 kg), where his opponent is the absolute champion. But at the same time, I’m not sure that he will succeed.
Recall that on May 8 in Las Vegas (USA), Bivol successfully defended his title, defeating Alvarez on points by unanimous decision.
Canelo has the right to a rematch, but the conditions for a re-fight, if the Mexican still decides to use this option, have yet to be discussed by the boxing teams.
“We can discuss this (76.2 kg fight) with the Canelo team. Can talk. There is no 100% guarantee that I will not fight at 76.2 kg. No, we can talk about it, – said Dmitry. – Although I’m not 100% sure (in the fight at 76.2 kg). Before the coronavirus, I was sure. Now I have put on some weight. Ate too much. I ate and didn’t fight.”
