The duel between former contender for the world heavyweight title British Dillian White (29-3, 19 KOs) and Swede Otto Wallin (24-1, 14 KOs) may take place in April.
ESPN columnist Mike Coppinger reports on the initial stage of elaboration of such an option, citing Wallin’s promoter, Dmitry Salita.
Recall that in April, British ex-world champion Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) is also scheduled to return to the ring. The name of his opponent has not yet been announced, but promoter Eddie Hearn no longer hides the fact that if Joshua wins, he plans to arrange a rematch with White. At the same time, Salita has long and persistently offered Wallin as Anthony’s rival.
In this light, Dillian and Otto could have identified an iron opponent for Joshua in the middle of the year.
In 2022, White failed to take the WBC title from compatriot Tyson Fury, losing by TKO in the 7th round. Dillian’s return at the end of November was not the most convincing – he forcedly surpassed Jermain Franklin on points by a majority vote of the judges.
Wallin also had two fights in 2022, winning on points over Kamil Sokolovsky and Rydell Booker. At the end of next week, he has a duel scheduled against another nondescript colleague in the face of
Elaman Olgin.
Meanwhile, it seems that Joshua’s opponent for April 1 has already been chosen – Hearn “burned out.”
