Deron Winn’s run in the UFC has come to an end.
The former college wrestling standout and longtime teammate of UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier has been released from the promotion. UFC officials announced the information to MMA Fighting Thursday.
Most recently, Winn was scheduled to compete against Julian Marquez at UFC Vegas 66 but was forced out of the fight just two days prior to the event. Winn said that he fell while training at UFC Performance Institute, and suffered a mild concussion.
Winn was then removed from the fight, and Marquez’s matchup was cancelled. After his UFC release, he will need to look for a new home.
Winn was unhappy about the announcement, particularly considering the time of his fight cancellation.

After putting together a perfect 5-0 record on the regional fighting circuit including a win over Tom Lawlor on the first and only Golden Boy MMA card, Winn was signed to the UFC roster in 2019.
He won a Fight of the Night victory over Eric Spicely, his debut fight. But he lost his two next fights to Gerald Meerschaert and Darren Stewart.
Winn returned to winning with victory over Antonio Arroyo, but then he lost to Phil Hawes by knockout in June. This was his last fight at the UFC.
Winn exits the promotion with a 2-3 record overall.
